Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) Health Industry Group has appointed Mark Sugrue as a Senior Director in its Health System practice. A&M is a global professional services firm specializing in advisory, business performance improvement, and turnaround management services. This strategic hire aligns with the group’s ongoing growth strategy, following recent key appointments such as Chris George as Managing Director and Leader of the Health System Practice, and Managing Director Brian Geissler. Sugrue brings extensive experience in clinical operations, IT, and revenue cycle management across various healthcare settings, including academic medical centers, acute care hospitals, medical groups, and private equity-backed healthcare organizations. His expertise encompasses patient contact center optimization, facility merger and acquisition projects, emergency department throughput, care model redesign, and enterprise-wide performance improvement.
Before joining A&M, Sugrue was a managing director at FTI Consulting, where he co-led the digital health solution offering, focusing on the adoption and optimization of innovative technologies. He received a 2020 Citation for Outstanding Performance from the Governor of Massachusetts for his Incident Command Leadership during the COVID-19 response at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Sugrue holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from Regis College. He currently serves on the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Board of Directors and is the past Chair of the HIMSS America’s Advisory Board.
