Emissions.AI to Optimize Centrica’s Operations

Centrica Energy Storage (CES) is collaborating with ERM, the world's largest sustainability consultancy, to implement its emissions.AI solution at the Easington Terminal of CES, the greatest gas storage facility in the United Kingdom. Emissions.AI, a cloud-based tool powered by advanced AI techniques, delivers real-time data and actionable insights to optimize energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. By providing continuous, autonomous monitoring of energy use and emissions, the tool will help CES teams enhance areas such as equipment performance and operational processes. This will allow for precise identification of excess energy consumption, helping reduce emissions without disrupting production.

This project reflects Centrica’s broader commitment to advancing the energy transition, which includes goals related to hydrogen storage, transport, and production. ERM's VP of Business Development, Donna Liddle, emphasized the importance of translating data into actionable intelligence to support CES's decarbonization efforts. Mike Orley, CES’s Chief of Staff, noted that emissions.AI will assist the company in achieving sustained reductions by making energy and emissions data instantly accessible to operational teams. ERM’s global expertise in sustainability, with over 8,000 experts across 40 countries, supports organizations in accelerating sustainability integration through strategic and technical services.
